Job Description: We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Remote Junior Reporter to join our dynamic fact-checking team. As a vital member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting in the research, investigation, and verification of news stories.
Job Requirements:
- Strong writing and editorial skills
- A passion for fact-checking and journalism
- Comfortable working independently with a high degree of accuracy
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Experience with online research and fact-checking techniques
- Familiarity with social media and other online platforms
Responsibilities:
- Conduct investigations and fact-checking of various news stories
- Write short articles summarizing your findings for publication on various online platforms
- Apply critical thinking skills when analyzing information
- Maintain accuracy and integrity in reporting
- Adhere to company policies and standards for reporting and editorial excellence
Qualifications:
- At least a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism or related fields
- 1-2 years of experience in journalism, fact-checking, or a related field (experience as a student journalist may also be considered)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Amharic, English and at least one other language (preferred)
This is a remote position, so you must have access to a personal computer, reliable internet connection, and a quiet work space.
